Date: March 23, 2019
Time: 9am-4pm
Instructor: Travis Skinner

Have you ever wanted to use the materials that grow in your back yard??   Alder trees are all around you!    Learn how to carve a beautiful and functional bowl with hand tools!   We will use axes, gouges, knives, files and rasps to make one of a kind bowls.  Use your hands! and possibly other appendages to shape, sculpt, cut, carve and create!

Greenwood carving is a style of carving that works with fresh cut wood, before it is dry.  By carving the material wet, it is softer and more malleable.  It is easier to work the wood, but it has to be dried appropriately to avoid cracking.  Come and try your hand at carving a bowl!

Bring any of your own tools, but nothing is required for the class. Go home with a very good start on a bowl project, a new understanding of various woodcarving techniques and your very own Gouge so you can finish your bowl at home!! Possible reduction in class price if you can provide the proper tools for the workshop.
